Getting to Vineyard Barns Gower
The location of Vineyard Barns Gower is to the west of Swansea. If travelling by car from the East or North, leave the M4 at Junction 42 towards Swansea. From the West take the Swansea West junction and follow the signposts for Mumbles. Follow the signs through Swansea towards Mumbles. As you approach the Woodman Inn on your right with a petrol station on your left, take the right hand turn signposted Bishopston. At the top of the hill, cross the common and take the second left signposted Murton. If you miss this turn, you will see a petrol station on your right and should turn around to take the turning which will now be on your right. After turning towards Murton, turn right at the junction and follow the road around past the Plough and Harrow and along Oldway. Keep following the road onto Pyle Rd (with a surfshop on your left and the road to Caswell Bay). When the road starts to dip you will see a small row of shops on your left just off the main Pyle Corner. Take the left in front of the shops onto Pwlldu Lane and continue straight on down Backingstone Lane. Vineyard Barns is the first turning on the right down Backingstone Lane also signposted Chantry Acre. Proceed up the drive and take the second turning on your left at the top of the drive. Open the gate if closed and you have arrived at Vineyard Barns.
The Dairy is on the left and the Stables is on the right. Between them is a grey barn where you may store bikes, surfboards, paddleboards and other equipment securely. Parking is available in the farmyard. There is additional parking for the Dairy accessible through the gate which is the first turning on the left off the main drive,
If travelling to Swansea by rail, from Swansea Railway Station take a bus, taxi or walk to the Quadrant Bus Station. Take the number 14 bus (every hour) in the direction of Pennard Cliffs and alight at Pyle Corner. You will see a small row of shops on the left. Walk down Pwlldu lane in front of the shops and follow the directions above. It is a 5 minute walk to Vineyard Barns.
If travelling by coach to Swansea, you will arrive at the Quadrant Bus Station and take the number 14 bus as described above.
If travelling by public transport to Swansea, it is possible to take a taxi to Vineyard Barns at a cost of around £25 depending on time of day.
The address is Vineyard Barns, Backingstone Lane, Bishopston, SA3 3DP but a word of warning, Sat nav is not always very successful as you reach the property although it can be used to navigate the route to Bishopston and further afield in the area.
